Alec Nesbitt was a Kinsman Trust Scholar at Magdalen College School, Oxford where he specialized in English History and Modern European History, winning the Sixth Form History prize. He was a nonrecorded student of A.J.P. Taylor at Magdalen College in Oxford University, studying the formation and decline of the German Empire. He holds the Certificate, with Commendation, from the Ruskin School of Fine Art at Oxford University.
During service with NATO forces in Germany, he served as Aide-de-Camp to Major-General Hans Speidel, Division Commander, V Panzer Division, the Bundeswehr.
